Key elections for IN, WI Teamsters today

Brothers and sisters, get out and vote today if you live in Indiana or Wisconsin.

Behind the Cheese Curtain, voters choose which Democrat will oppose job killer Gov. Scott Walker. Teamsters Joint Council 39 recently endorsed Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, but whoever wins the Democratic primary will get labor's all-out support. Teamsters will run an aggressive member-to-member get-out-the-vote effort. We've got to get rid of that guy!

The charismatic chief of Wisconsin's firefighters union, Mahlon Mitchell, is running for lieutenant governor. Four Republican state senators who cast anti-worker votes are also up for recall. The good news is it's likely the Democrats will retake the Senate majority, where they can fend off Walker's attacks on workers.

From our Teamsters Facebook page, Ellen Monahan Holly offered this advice yesterday:
Reclaim Wisconsin - remember to VOTE tomorrow! You will get a ballot with both Democratic (real and fake) and Republican candidates - you may choose ONE candidate per position (one for Governor and one for Lt. Governor, plus one for Senator in some districts.
Governor - fake Dem is Gladys Huber
Lt.Governor - definitely Mahlon Mitchell. Isaac Weix is a fake Democrat.
Senate District 13 - I wish I lived in this district so I could vote for Lori Compas who orignated the recall against the evil Scot Fitzgerald and is now running against him. The fake Democrat is Gary Ellerman whose campaign is GOP sponsored. Can you even believe that we have to worry about "fake" candidates? Sickening. Spread the word!
The polls opened at 6 am in Indiana today. Hoosiers will winnow down the candidates for the state Legislature. Our brothers and sisters want to reclaim the Statehouse and repeal right-to-work-for-less, and there are 55 union members or former union members running for 125 seats. Our Teamster brother Jim Kincaid from Local 89 has a primary opponent for a state representative seat, so if you live in his district VOTE! Three other Teamster brothers are running for the Legislature, but they don't have primaries.

Even if you don't, the Indiana AFL-CIO recommends pro-worker candidates here. There are a bunch of pro-worker "lunchpail Republicans," so check out the list.
